Remote Trial Appearance In Spite of the Snow

A few weeks ago, Kirk Thibault, Ph.D. was circling above Sioux Falls on his way to testify in a trial in Bon Homme County, South Dakota. Unfortunately, snow kept his plane from landing and he was forced to fly back home to Philadelphia.

The court expected him to testify the next day, and there was no way for him to be there. At 4 pm, the judge instructed counsel to contact NextGen Reporting to arrange for Dr. Thibault to appear in the courtroom via videoconferencing the next morning at 9 am. NextGen made it happen.

“My client was delighted that the expert was able to testify despite the weather,” said Steve Cotton, Esq. from Wipf & Cotton. “He looked and sounded just like he was in the courtroom with us, and that made a big difference for the judge and jury.”

Dr. Thibault valued the service so much that he is now requesting that many of his distant trial appearances be done by NextGen’s remote videoconferencing service. “It just makes all the sense in the world. It’s better for me, and it’s better for my clients.” Remote trial appearances are becoming more common across the country due to the savings in time and money.
